The Lac La Ronge Indian Band (LLRIB) has taken an important step toward strengthening energy security, reducing costs, and building long-term sustainability through the development of its Community Energy Plan (CEP). This comprehensive plan supports all six LLRIB communities — Grandmother’s Bay, Hall Lake, La Ronge, Little Red River, Stanley Mission, and Sucker River. The plan addresses rising energy demands, aging infrastructure, and long-term sustainability goals for the Band and its members.
The Community Energy Plan is supported by three documents:
- The Community Energy Analysis provides the technical backbone of the CEP. It details:
-
-
How the community’s current energy use was calculated
-
Baseline energy consumption data
-
Projected outcomes of proposed community energy actions
-
Emissions reductions and cost-saving estimates
-
-
- The Community Energy Education and Engagement Report documents the knowledge gathered through:
-
-
Internal capacity-building within the Community Energy Planning team
-
Engagement sessions with Band membership
-
Discussions with staff and Elders
-
-
- The Community Energy Planning Learning Materials provide foundational background information to support:
-
-
Understanding of the Community Energy Plan
-
Ongoing community engagement
-
Educational activities related to energy literacy
-
