Community Recovery, Repatriation & Emergency Coordination Update
As Lac La Ronge Indian Band members continue returning home, the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) remains fully committed to supporting recovery and ensuring safety. This update includes the latest information on fire activity, health services, transportation, power outages, and funding supports. We sincerely thank all frontline teams, health staff, and community members for their strength, unity, and resilience.
🔥 Fire Status & Suppression Operations
Southwest (Hall Lake, Sikachu, Clam Lake): Fire activity remains stable, with green islands burning off. Additional crews arrived June 12 to support suppression efforts.
Northeast (Sucker River): Active fire columns continue. Fire lines are being extended to the northwest and west to protect homes, roads, and SaskPower infrastructure.
Besnard Lake: A spot fire near cabins and lodges has been identified and is being actioned today.
Dozer & Mulching Lines: Installed around La Ronge, Napatak Road, the SaskTel tower, and other key structures.
🌧️ Weather Forecast:
Light rain is possible today, with intermittent showers expected June 14–15. A warming trend follows. Western winds may bring increased smoke early next week.
⚡ Power Outages – SaskPower Update
Rolling outages will continue today, June 13.
Planned outages on June 14 will affect:
La Ronge industrial area
La Ronge Airport
Northern communities including Waden Bay, Sucker River, and Stanley Mission
SaskPower expects to restore most power by Saturday, June 15.
🏥 Health Services Update
Emergency Room: Reopened June 12 and is operating well.
Lab & Health Services: Full public access resumes Monday, June 16.
Mental Health Supports: Available this weekend via outpatient services.
Long-Term Care: Residents scheduled to return June 18–19.
🚍 Repatriation & Recovery
Evacuation Order: Officially lifted on June 12.
Buses: Still running today to assist returning members.
Fuel Support: Gas is being provided to LLRIB members in partnership with the Red Cross.
Home Losses:
12 in Sucker River (plus 2 new builds)
6 in Hall Lake
2 in Clam Bridge
1 camp in Morning Lake
1 home in La Ronge
Additional trapper cabins lost
Damage Assessment & Cleanup: Ongoing by Housing & Public Works teams.
Community Support Sites: Active in La Ronge, Sucker River, Hall Lake, Stanley Mission, and Grandmother’s Bay.
Homeless Shelter: Open daily at 8:00 p.m., currently operating at limited capacity.
🚗 Transportation & Travel
Highways: Open and actively monitored.
Bus Services: Ongoing pickups from all locations, including Winnipeg and Ontario. JRMMC will remain open until Sunday.

LLRIB is fully committed to helping all displaced members return home and rebuild.
Food Replacement Assistance:
We are coordinating purchase orders and preparing a second round of $300 payments for LLRIB households affected by the evacuation.
