LLRIB invites families to its 2nd Annual Family Wellness Gathering

(Treaty 6 Territory, Woodland Cree) Lac La Ronge Indian Band, Sask. – Building on a first year that drew more than 1,600 participants, the Lac La Ronge Indian Band (LLRIB) is announcing the return of its Family Wellness Gathering, a three-day gathering of families, Elders, youth and leaders centred on wellness, cultural connection and healing.

The 2nd Annual Family Wellness Gathering takes place July 14 to 16, 2026, at the La Ronge Urban Reserve, and the community is invited to take part.

This year’s gathering will once again create space to address the issues that matter most to families across the Nation: mental health, addiction recovery, intergenerational healing and resilience. The program is grounded in Woodland Cree culture and led by the community.

“Last year showed us what’s possible when we come together in a good way to improve the health of our community and LLRIB members,” said Chief Tammy Cook-Searson. “This gathering is an opportunity for every family to join us again — to learn, to heal and to celebrate the strength of who we are.”

Attendees can expect a full program of keynote speakers, hands-on cultural workshops, youth and family activities, and entertainment for all ages. Returning highlights include the Cultural and Healing Village, where last year participants took part in moosehide tanning, birch bark crafts, fish net making, traditional medicine, beading and art therapy, alongside daily meals, family programming and evening entertainment.

The gathering reflects LLRIB’s commitment to addressing complex social challenges through culturally grounded, community-driven approaches — meeting families where they are and walking forward together.

The Family Wellness Gathering is hosted by LLRIB Child and Family Services and the LLRIB Prevention Program, with major sponsorship from Cameco, Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority and Kitsaki Management.
