Proof of vaccination a must under new COVID-19 Vaccination Passport Policy
La Ronge, Sept. 20, 2021 (Monday):
“A step in efforts to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the Lac La Ronge Indian Band Chief and Council have decided to adopt a COVID-19 Vaccination Passport Policy for employees and Band offices. The Policy makes vaccination passports mandatory for all employees.”
– Lac La Ronge Indian Band Chief Tammy Cook-Searson
Effective today (Sept 20, 2021), no person over the age of 12 may enter the Keethanow Bingo Hall or any large indoor events’ facility where people are congregating for more than 15 minutes or any other non-commercial facility owned, operated and leased by the LLRIB, or work in any of the LLRIB communities, without a COVID-19 vaccination passport, with the exception of LLRIB facilities for wakes and funerals, Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre (JRMCC) and other LLRIB Community Halls.
LLRIB currently has an outbreak of COVID-19 in one of the Band communities; a significant number of these cases are among the unvaccinated. The fourth wave continues to be a concern as positive COVID-19 cases are increasing in other LLRIB communities.
Chief Tammy Cook-Searson adds: “As a Band, we continue to work together to actively promote immunizations. Mandating vaccination passports is another effort to meet the goal.”
The Policy will apply to all LLRIB staff members and others — including contract workers, couriers and those visiting the Band offices.
Acceptable vaccination passports include digital or hard-copy proof of vaccination issued by the Band public health or SHA, a card from public health letter of validation, a vaccination certificate or card, and, personal written attestation of immunization. The Policy makes exceptions for those attending wakes and funerals or having valid medical reasons or reasons that will reviewed on a case by case basis.
