Personal Care Worker – Casual

About the facility: The Elder Home is responsible for the provision of quality care to clients by providing personal care and respite assistance to clients. This is a 24/365-day facility with Level 1-2 and 3 care to residents.

About the position: Working 12-hour shifts with a rotating schedule, Personal Care Workers support and supervise individuals with physical abilities; use a team approach to plan, organize and supervise daily activities; prepare and serve meals as planned; administer prescribed medications; maintain sanitation of the Elder Home; and, assess needs of clients on an on-going basis. This position will be required to cover any leaves of permanent staff at any time. As this employment is on a casual-basis, there are no guaranteed shift hours.

Duties:
• Support and supervise elderly individuals;
• Use a team approach to plan, organize and supervise daily activities, recreational and other services;
• Prepare and serve meals as planned;
• Assess needs of residents on an on-going basis;
• Maintain sanitation of Long-term Care Home;
• 12- hour shift with rotating schedule (Overtime may be required);
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor;

Qualifications:
• Continuing Care Aide Certificate, Personal Care Worker Certificate or Home Health Aide certificate required; Minimum grade 12 or equivalent;
• Certified First Aide & CPR and Safe Food Handling Certificate required or willing to obtain;
• Must be able to work independently and collaboratively with the Group home team, and demonstrate strong organizational skills;
• Strong Written and verbal communication;
• Previous home care or childcare experience is an asset;
• Experience working with First Nations Communities is an asset;
• Must Possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License;
• Ability to speak/understand Cree is a definite asset;
