Parent Support Worker

For the Community of La Ronge

Lac La Ronge Indian Band Health Services Department is now accepting applications for 1 (One) Permanent Full Time, Parent Support Worker for the community of La Ronge. The Parent Support Worker will be required to assist the Maternal Child Health Program by improving health outcomes for pregnant women and families with infants and young children, by focusing on culture, role modeling, and healthy teachings, by linking with community resources.

Duties:

  • In-home support, utilizing a strength based model, with families who have children between the ages of 0 – 6 years;
  • Teach individuals and groups about health promotion topics;
  • Assist the Community Health Nurse to provide and deliver programs and services;
  • Advocate, refer and act as a liaison for families;
  • Work closely with other Health Care Professionals;
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or designate;

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or GED Certificate; Combination of education and experience may be considered;
  • Personal experience as a parent or caregiver of infants &/or young children, is an asset;
  • Must possess excellent written and communication skills;
  • Able to work independently, be self-directed and demonstrate organizational skills;
  • The ability to speak/understand Cree is a definite asset;
  • Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check and Driver’s abstract is required upon hire;
  • Must possess a Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
