The Lac La Ronge Indian Band’s Education Department is now accepting applications to fill the following Casual positions based out of the Youth Haven in La Ronge, SK:
Labourer
The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:
- Maintenance of winter road and/or snowmobile trail, daily garbage disposal, make sure equipment is stored properly and ready for the next day;
- Refill and top-up all equipment; skidoos, chainsaws, generators, ice augers; outboard motors; ATVs;
- Check oil, check all equipment including sleighs for safety and repair when needed;
- Perform groundskeeper duties such as cleaning of grounds, trails, drainage systems, storage and work areas, cutting, raking of grass, the removal of debris and shoveling snow;
- Ensure there is adequate wood for all cabins;
- Safely operate hand and power tools and equipment required to perform assigned work;
- Assist Camp Attendant with duties and responsibilities.
- Hauling equipment and/or supplies to and from camp;
- Other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Grade 12 or equivalent is preferred
- Current working knowledge and experience of camp labour job duties;
- Good communication skills to deal tactfully with staff, students and the public;
- Good organizational skills to plan and expedite work as it pertains to assigned projects;
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and provide attention to detail are required;
- Must be willing to take direction from a supervisor;
- Physical capabilities to perform the job;
- Current WHMIS, First Aid and CPR certification are assets;
- Valid driver’s license and own vehicle is required.
- Outboard boating license;
- Must provide satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector and Driver’s Abstract
