Financial Comptroller

Lac La Ronge Indian Band Health Services is now accepting applications for 1 (One) Permanent Full Time, Financial Comptroller in the community of La Ronge.

The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:

  • Supervise account coding and verify signatures for proper assignment of budgetary expenditures;
  • Ensure that all month-end financial duties and resulting financial reporting is completed in a timely and accurate manner;
  • Record all business transactions, process accruals and adjustments, reconcile accounts, and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting and financial statements;
  • Prepare financial statements and bank reconciliations;
  • Assist in developing and maintaining policy and procedures relating to financial and accounting issues in accordance with the Financial Administration Law of LLRIB;
  • Assist in annual audit conducted by third parties to ensure effective resolution and swift closure of auditing activities;
  • Investigate variances in budgets, reporting, internal controls, and general accounting; deploy measures to resolve variances;
  • Supervise financial activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting, financial planning, and reporting;
  • Assist Health Director and Management Team in the preparation and recording of program budgets;
  • Supervise and assist in the development and maintenance of accounting files and records;
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or designate.

The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Must have a post-secondary diploma/degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting/finance/administration.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting systems, budget development, and internal controls.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, best practices in finance/accounting procedures, relevant tax laws, and reporting requirements to funding agencies;
  • Well-developed coaching and leadership skills, both on a formal and informal basis;
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills;
  • Must be able to provide a recent and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/ Vulnerable Sector Check and SGI’s Driver Abstract.
