The Lac La Ronge Indian Band’s Education Department is accepting applications for the 2024 academic year, to fill the following Full-Time Term Position (until June 30, 2024) based out of Sally Ross School in Hall Lake, SK:
Education Assistant
The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:
- Provide support and programming to students in and out of the classroom;
- Collaborate with teachers in implementing and supporting individualized plans for students with various needs;
- Maintain records and student progress, discuss with team members any changes which may be made to an individual students program;
- Support and assist students and the school as assigned;
- Respond flexibly to changes in schedule and to the needs of students, and at times may be required to engage in personal care;
- Support and participate in a wide variety of field trips, sports, social, recreational and craft activities
- Participate during supervision time and in extra-curricular activities;
- Other work-related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Must have Grade 12 diploma or equivalent;
- Previous experience is preferred
- Must be prepared to work with children with various skills and abilities;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Completion of a recognized Post-Secondary Special Education Assistant program shall be considered as an asset.
- Ability to lift and position students of varying weights
- Prefer to have or willing to obtain First Aid Certificate
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check.
