The Lac La Ronge Indian Band is now inviting applications for the following full-time position based out of La Ronge:
Agricultural Benefits Coordinator
The Agricultural Benefits Coordinator (ABC) will be responsible for ensuring the proper use and accounting for the Settlement Funds for the benefit of the LLRIB members now, and into the future for many generations to come. The Coordinator will coordinate and administer all work duties associated with issuing and distributing the Per Capita Distributions (PCD’s). The Coordinator will work closely with the Corporate Trustee who will receive, hold, invest and disburse funds for designated minors who are Members of the LLRIB.
The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:
- Working with Membership Office in updating and ensuring that the membership list is continually updated, as new members and deceased members are recorded.
- Working with the Trust Company to implement the Settlement Agreement.
- Preparing for and developing the payment list for the distribution of the initial and the annual Per Capita Distribution (PCD).
- Assisting the Executive Director with coordination of meetings associated with Agricultural Benefits, such as meetings with banks to provide banking information, financial information workshops for members, Agricultural Benefits Committee and/or the Settlement Planning Committee.
- Advocating for and assisting band members to obtain bank accounts, specifically for Electronic Fund Transfers (EFT’s) and providing the banking information to the Band Administration Department, in preparation for the PCD payments.
- Planning and organization meetings related to the Settlement Agreement.
- Assemble data and prepare regular reports on the agricultural benefits payments, trust accounts to the executive Director, Chief and Council and the membership.
- Develop and plan Agricultural Benefits services for LLRIB communities (i.e., Applications, Reporting, Program activities).
- Provide general administrative duties including preparation of data base, memos, briefing notes, correspondence and meeting minutes.
- Complete and maintain reports, including completing required documentation in a timely manner.
- Establish and maintain a filing system.
- All other duties, as assigned.
The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Diploma in social services, political science, public administration, or related field.
- 3-5 years of related experience
- A combination of education and/or work experience with families, children, and youth will be considered
- Able to interpret legislation and legal documents
- Strong written and time management skills
- Strong computer skills with experience using word processing software and data base software
- Must be willing to work flexible hours and travel with minimal notice
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and history of LLRIB members
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Effective written and computer literacy.
- Must be able to respect confidentiality and make sound decisions.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Ability to speak Woodland Cree is an asset.
