CHIEF AND COUNCIL ANNOUNCEMENT
March 26, 2020

Chief and Council of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band have made an unprecedented decision to extend the term of Council on an emergency basis, effective immediately, until April 30, 2020.
Chief and Council will continue to closely monitor the development of Covid-19 and follow the advice and recommendations from health experts and may assess the need to further extend the term of office as needed.

This decision was made after the Election Tribunal postponed the Election scheduled for March 30, 2020, in an effort to protect the Membership from the highly contagious and infectious Covid-19, which has been declared a global pandemic, resulting in Saskatchewan declaring a State of Emergency and limiting gatherings to under 10 people.

In these uncertain times, and in response to many calls and messages from Membership, Chief and Council must be available to be involved in the decisions and actions needed to protect the Membership of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band against Covid-19.
During this extended one-month term, Chief and Council are not authorized to make any expenditures to individual Band Members. Any on-reserve Members needing assistance may contact their band offices for information.

We thank you for your understanding during these uncertain times, and trust that we can all work together to protect our Membership, and in particular, our Elders.
