RE: COVID-19 PANDEMIC UPDATE

Chief and Council would like to remind Lac La Ronge Indian Band (LLRIB) members of the Emergency Assistance which is being provided due to COVID-19 pandemic. Understandably not everyone has social media or internet access, so if you can, please share by word of mouth or texting to help get the word out. Again, this will be a one-time assistance for LLRIB members/families. Please phone 1-800-567-7736 or 306-425-2183 to request this assistance.

While all our other reserve communities have initiated road monitoring in the past few weeks, this has not been done in La Ronge due to our unique circumstances. For certain things to work successfully on the La Ronge 156 and Kitsaki 156 reserve 156B, we require the necessary planning and support of the Town of La Ronge and Village of Air Ronge. Unfortunately, our neighbouring municipalities have not been in favour of establishing road monitoring during this time.

We would like to also inform the membership, Chief and Council has been reinstated strictly to address the numerous pressing issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is an exceptional circumstance and we are not conducting business as usual. As such we have not made any financial-related decisions and nor have we been able to provide any financial support as done previously.

Council would also like to remind band members to continue being diligent and do your part to keep yourself, your family and our community safe. We appreciate people want to be outdoors as spring weather is now here, however we must remind you we still remain under restrictions:

  • Stay home and in your yard as much as possible
  • Maintain social distancing guidelines (six feet or two metres from others)
  • Avoid situations of gathering in groups (no more than 10)
  • Avoid non-essential travel outside of the community
  • Monitor yourself for any flu-like symptoms

With the announcement of the election being held once again, this will be our last update for the time being. Thank you for support during this unprecedented time. Take care and be safe.
