The Lac La Ronge Indian Band’s Administration Department is now accepting applications to fill the following casual positions, based out of the Kitsaki Emergency Overnight Shelter in La Ronge, SK.

Casual Shelter Workers (5)

The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:
• Provide crisis intervention and support to residents who may be experiencing emotional or behavioral issues
• Conduct intakes
• Keep accurate records and maintain confidentiality of resident information
• Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the shelter facility
• Collaborate with other staff members to provide a safe and supportive and non-Judgmental environment for residents
• To document interactions, maintain statistical data, and other related paperwork.
• To assist in new employee orientation
• Food preparation
• All other duties as required.

The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:
• Must be over the age of 19.
• Related educational accreditation (diploma or degree) will be considered an asset, but is not required.
• Previous work experiences in frontline setting involving harm reduction and/or lived experience including substance use considered an asset.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
• Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and de-escalation strategies
• Established rapport building skills with a diverse range of clientele including individuals experiencing homelessness, living with mental illness, and/or actively using substances.
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and apply rational judgement when working through complex and/or urgent situations.
• Knowledge and respect for Indigenous Cultures
• Current First Aid and CPR Level “C” and Safe Food Handling Course
• Must have access to transportation to get to and from work
• Must be able to provide an acceptable Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check.
