CALL OUT FOR CASUAL EMPLOYMENT
REGISTERED NURSES
For the Community of La Ronge
Lac La Ronge Indian Band Health Services is calling out for Casual Registered Nurses to work in the community of La Ronge and to provide nursing care services to the four (4) outlying communities.
The Casuals will be required to cover any leaves of Permanent staff at any time.
As this employment is on a casual-basis, there are no guaranteed shift hours.
Duties include (but not limited to):
- Conduct case work interviews with clients, family members, service providers, and others to obtain information determining client services, needs and eligibility;
- Ensure the program is based on a client referral assessment process and client independence is maintained;
- Develops service plans including short-term and long-term goals depending on client assessment;
- On-going evaluation of client progress and updating care plans based on nursing assessments;
- Provide case management and develop preliminary written care plans to meet the assessed needs of clients;
- Prepare task lists with instructions for care and provide specialized nursing care for clients;
- Identifies psychosocial, economic and physical needs of clients;
- Provides health information, skill development, advocacy, crisis intervention and referrals to clients;
- Focus on prevention, education, awareness and community capacity building as well as facilitating access to quality and timely diagnosis care, treatment and social supports;
- Utilize assessment educating and nursing skills to carry out the nursing programs in the publicly funded Saskatchewan Immunization Program, Pre and Postnatal Care, Communicable Disease Control and Tuberculosis programming;
- Provided direct care by assessing client health needs, planning care, implementing interventions and evaluating outcomes;
- Promote healthy lifestyles, diseases prevention and health promotion;
- Assess needs of Band Members and make necessary referrals;
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or designate.
Qualifications:
- Required Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing;
- In good standing and registered with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA);
- Previous Home Care, Public Health and Acute Care experience is an asset;
- Must possess strong leadership, communication, organization and public relations skills;
- Experience working with First Nations people is an asset;
- Ability to work independently and as a team member;
- The ability to speak/understand Cree is a definite asset;
- Must possess a Valid Driver’s License and ability to travel;
- Current Criminal Record Clearance/Vulnerable Sector Screening and Driver’s Abstract required upon hire;
