The Lac La Ronge Indian Band is accepting applications to fill the following Full-Time Term position based out of Hall Lake, SK:
Land-Based Culture Worker
- 1 Male Worker
The Cultural Workers are responsible for the planning, development, and implementation/coordination of programs and functions related to cultural events in the community.
The suitable candidates will be able to perform the following duties:
- Prepare cultural activities for all age groups within the Hall Lake Community;
- Organize and lead in providing cultural teachings;
- Engage with students and provide support in cultural activities;
- Assist in gathering materials, tools and accessories for Culture Educational Purposes;
- Develop, Organize, Lead, Evaluate and Promote interests in recreational activities such as arts, crafts, sports, games, camping, cultural programs and hobbies for all age groups within the Hall Lake Community;
- Administer first aid according to prescribed procedures, and notify emergency medical personnel when necessary;
- Greet new arrivals to activities, introducing them to other participants, explaining facility rules, and encouraging their participation;
- Provide for entertainment and set up related decorations and equipment;
- Encourage participants to develop their own activities and leadership skills through group discussions;
- Oversee the purchase, planning, design, constructions, and upkeep of recreation facilities and areas;
- Develop, organize and implement cultural events/activities for elders, adults, youth and children;
- Promote and advertise Cultural events;
- Be present on location during events;
- Ensure cultural facilities are safe for public use;
- Make requests for new equipment, supplies or services, as they are needed.
The suitable candidates will possess the following qualifications:
- Grade 12 Diploma or Equivalent;
- 1-2 years relevant experiences in traditional practices;
- Minimum Level I Coaching Certificate or be willing and able to obtain one in a timely fashion;
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evening and weekends as required;
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision;
- Ability to speak and understand Cree is an asset;
- Strong reading, writing, and communication skills;
- Ability to manage time efficiently and effectively
- Valid WHMIS and First Aid/CPR Certification;
- Boat safety license;
- PAL license and Hunter’s Safety certificate;
- Must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence;
- Must be able to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check and Driver’s Abstract.
