The Lac La Ronge Indian Band is now inviting applications for the following Permanent Full-Time position based out La Ronge:

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the ideal candidate will assist LLRIB in the planning, development and implementation of Emergency Response Plans based on community needs and priorities. This position is responsible for planning and preparing for all hazards emergencies that may arise within the LLRIB communities including but not limited to pandemics, evacuations, human-caused or natural disasters, suicides, and major accidents, etc.

The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:

  • Conduct ongoing All Hazard and Risk Planning, Assessments, and table-top exercises.
  • Support LLRIB Emergency Management through the four pillars of emergency management – Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and
  • Update emergency response plans, and build contingency plans for 6 LLRIB communities; La Ronge, Grandmother’s Bay, Stanley Mission, Sucker River, Hall Lake, and Little Red River
  • Instruct Medical First Responders, First/Aid CPR, and Mask fit testing, , while maintaining documentation for Human Resources files.
  • Assist community First Responders groups in sustaining functional services in outlying
  • Maintain health surveillance of smoke/fire conditions and other
  • Coordinate community awareness of Basic Life support skills through
  • Coordinate health debriefings and lessons learned post
  • Network with industry stakeholders and providers to keep communities abreast of industry changes and challenges;
  • Be familiar with Indigenous Services Canada EMAP and Fire Smart Programs
  • Be Familiar with the Incident Command System
  • Have experience in fire department operations
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or designate;

The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Education/training in Emergency Management, Disaster Response, and/or Fire Department Operations experience;
  • IFSAC/ProBoard Fire Officer Level 1-2, Fire Service Instructor 2, Firefighter 1-2
  • Emergency Operations Centre – Level 1
  • Incident Command System 300
  • Must have experience in delivering and facilitating training programs to large and small groups
  • Instructor credentials in First Aid/CPR, Medical First Responder – or willing to obtain certification;
  • Experience in handling and debriefing emergency/trauma situations is an asset;
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, public relations and problem-solving skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare written reports;
  • Ability to speak/understand Cree is a definite asset;
  • Experience working with First Nations communities is an asset;
  • Must have a Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and willing to travel;
  • Security Clearance: Current Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Screening and Driver’s Abstract required upon hire;
