The Lac La Ronge Indian Band’s Education Department is now accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year, to fill the following position based out of Bell’s Point Elementary School in La Ronge, SK:
Cree Language Teacher
The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:
· Use appropriate teaching aides and techniques, in order to meet basic Saskatchewan curriculum standards;
· Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet individual needs of students;
· Promote and assist in the development of Cree Language and Culture programming;
· Attend staff/community/School Committee/parent-teacher/Cree Language Retention Committee meetings and in-service workshops to develop a greater understanding of community aspirations and improvement of personal teaching competencies;
· Participate in operation of the school extracurricular program.
The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:
• Bachelor of Education degree.
• A Saskatchewan Professional A teaching certificate.
• Must be fluent in Woodland Cree (required).
• Cree Language training is an asset
• Strong background in the culture and traditions of the Woodland Cree.
• Experience with outdoor Education and Cultural Activities following the 6 seasons.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Ability to teach students of varying abilities.
• Cross-Cultural experience is an asset.
• Must be able to provide verification of previous teaching experience (if applicable);
• Must be able to provide a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract and Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector check.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
