About the Organization: LLRIBHS promotes health in our communities for the wellbeing of all members. We provide accessible, high quality health services and programs. Together with others, we work to build capacity and educate as we address both acute needs and the determinants of health.
About the position: Working 7.5-hour shifts (Over-Time and Travel may be required). They will promote and assist the Health Team through health advocacy, Health Prevention and promotion within the LLRIB. Assist in planning and organizing events such as cultural camps, planting & harvesting gardens, berry picking expeditions, trips for elderly and traditional outings, shoveling snow, hunting and gathering food; knowledge of boat and motor operations, setting of nets, and ensues use of firearms safety. They will also assist with home visits, providing support, awareness, reinforce teachings and interpreting for clientele.
Duties:
- Assisting the health staff in the delivery of health care services including but not limited to promotion, prevention and chronic care;
- Working closely with the Health Team by assisting in home visits, providing support, awareness, reinforce teaching, interpreting and advising;
- Act as an interpreter between English and Cree speaking clients, health care providers and accompany clients when necessary to appointments;
Qualifications:
- Minimum Grade 10 (combination of education and relevant experience may be considered);
- Knowledge and experience with First Nations culture and traditions is an asset;
- Must possess the ability to speak/understand the Cree language;
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to travel to outlying LLRIB communities;
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License;
- Must have Certified First Aide & CPR or willing to obtain;
- Ability to lift 50-100 lbs;
- Must be physically fit and able to take down & set up camps;
