The Keethanow Group of Businesses Department is now accepting applications for the following Permanent Full-Time Position based out of Keethanow Food Supermarket, La Ronge.
Butcher
The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:
- Work with a positive, professional approach and attitude toward public & employees
- Be dependable for all scheduled shifts
- Can follow detailed written or verbal instructions precisely
- Mindset to work safely around dangerous equipment
- Adhering to all Health and Safety dress-codes and equipment handling codes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills / basic math skills for converting units of measure for various meat packaging / cutting
- Capable of standing for a 8-hour shift
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis
- Prepare, wrap, price and stock product as required and assigned
- Maintain and display all types of meat and products according to standards. Able to identify spoiled or aging products of meat
- Provide proper maintenance & cleaning of equipment daily, monitor case temperatures and clean equipment regularly.
- Be familiar with and adhere to all sanitation and personal hygiene policies of the Health & Safety Guides and Government legislation.
- Advise the supervisor when orders for replenishment of inventory is required and to keep proper mark-down reports.
The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Must possess a positive, ambitious attitude.
- Must be willing to participate in all necessary training programs & adhere to PPE while working
- Must be flexible in shifts
- 1yr as meat cutter – culinary certificate would be preferred
- previous knowledge of meat packaging & handling is an asset
- Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment
- Grade 12 would be preferred
- Able to handle extreme cold and warm temperatures
- Handling of sharp hazardous equipment properly
- First Aid / WHIMIS / SCOTS (asset for band saw) / Safe Food Handling
- Minimum of three months’ experience in grocery retail
- MUST provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check
