Overview
In 2022, the Lac La Ronge Indian Band started the Community Energy Planning Project with funding from Natural Resources Canada through the Smart Renewables and Electrification Pathways (SREP) Program.
The project supports cleaner energy planning by looking at current energy use and future energy needs across LLRIB communities.
Through this work, LLRIB will create one Community Energy Plan for each of the six communities to guide practical energy actions and future energy projects.
The plans explore renewable energy opportunities and ways to reduce energy demand through efficiency improvements.
Energy planning can support energy efficiency, savings, greater energy independence, and a secure and sustainable energy supply.
Community participation and member input help shape each community’s energy future and the direction of the plans.
