WATER & SEWER OPERATOR TEAM LEAD – Permanent Full-Time

The Team Leader performs as a supervisor 20% of the time and the remaining 80% of the time is spent performing regular duties as a Water & Sewer Operator II.  The Team Leader combines water & sewer knowledge, communication and administrative skill to effectively plan, direct, supervise and evaluate the delivery of water & sewer services in La Ronge, Sucker River and Hall Lake.

The suitable candidate will perform the following duties:

  • Operate and maintain the water plant, lift stations and lagoon
  • Ensures and approves timesheets, leave requests and education/training requests
  • Prepares statistical reports for submission to the Director of Public Works & Housing
  • Prepares monthly reports for the Director of Public Works & Housing
  • Provides coaching and mentoring for staff under their supervision
  • Ensures team work is being implemented on a daily basis
  • Coordinates daily team meetings
  • Provides initial and on-going field orientation for new staff
  • Conducting performance appraisals
  • Identify and recommend a continuing education plan to meet the on-going training needs of the staff
  • Maintain positive public relations on behalf of the department
  • Perform other work related duties as requested by a supervisor

The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Minimum certification is Level 2 in the following areas: Water Treatment, Water Distribution, Wastewater Treatment & Wastewater Collection
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years experience as a Water & Sewer Operator
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Good physical fitness
  • Must hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Must be self-directed, motivated and a problem-solver
  • Must be willing to take direction from a supervisor
  • Must be willing to work independently on various job sites

Salary: In accordance with applicable salary grid.
