The Lac La Ronge Indian Band is now inviting applications for the following Full-time Term position (Leave coverage until January 10, 2025) based out La Ronge:
Prevention Worker

The Prevention Worker, reporting to the Prevention Coordinator, plays a pivotal role in promoting child safety, family unity, and community well-being within Lac La Ronge Indian Band (LLRIB) communities. This position involves implementing prevention initiatives, providing family support services, and collaborating with external agencies to ensure comprehensive care for families and children in need.

The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:
• Assist in implementing prevention programs and initiatives under the guidance of the Prevention Coordinator.
• Facilitate community information sessions on effective and healthy parenting practices to promote positive family dynamics.
• Provide information, counseling, and support services to families using a Community-Based model of childcare.
• Screen for child safety concerns, including risks of abuse and neglect, and communicate identified risks to appropriate parties.
• Assist in identifying the need for family support services and available resources within and outside the community.
• Coordinate with Child and Family Services and other relevant agencies to ensure timely intervention and support for families.
• Refer reports of child abuse and neglect for investigation to the appropriate authorities and support investigative processes as needed.
• Develop and implement case plans with short and long-term goals for families on the caseload.
• Review and adjust case plans and family support plans within the integrated case management team as required.
• Maintain confidential, accurate, and up-to-date case documentation, including intake, screening, assessment reports, and progress notes.
• Conduct all tasks in adherence to relevant legislation, policies, and procedures governing child protection and family support services.
• Ensure compliance with standards for case documentation, reporting, and confidentiality.
• Maintain statistical data and prepare monthly, interim, and final activity reports as required by committees and funders.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of support services and resources in achieving positive outcomes for families and children.
• Respects and protects the privacy of information relating to all company clients, employees, and business affairs.
• Maintains current knowledge and practice of all relevant plans, policies and procedures as established by the Agency.
• Maintains knowledge of external regulatory bodies governing the Agency.
• Performs other related duties as required.

The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:
• Diploma in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Psychology, or a related field.
• Experience working with Indigenous communities and understanding of cultural contexts is preferred.
• Knowledge of child protection legislation, policies, and best practices.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and proficiency in documentation.
• A high degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability
• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
• Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel and e-mail required
• Culturally sensitive
• High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
• Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
• Strong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to staff and client privacy
• Previous community related experience a definite asset.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
