The Lac La Ronge Indian Band’s Education Department is accepting applications to fill a Full Time, Term position based out of the Mikisiw Awasis Early Learning Center, Bell’s Point, La Ronge, SK:
EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR – Cree Language Culture
The suitable candidates will be able to fulfill the following duties/responsibilities:
• Work collaboratively with Daycare/AHSOR staff, in the implementation of Cree Culture and Language programming for the children;
• Assist staff in the daily delivery and use of the Cree Culture and Language;
• Plan and coordinate land-based outings for staff and children;
• Plan, coordinate and create gardens and other activities for food security with children and staff;
• Assist with Culture and Language skill development, quality instruction, and in applying high yield teaching strategies;
• Liaise closely with LLRIB Cree Resource Unit;
• Balance all aspects of the Cree Culture and Language in program delivery;
• Provide work plans and progress to supervisor;
• Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
The suitable candidates will possess the following qualifications/abilities:
• Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent;
• Preferred Level 3 ECE (Early Childhood Educator) Diploma
• Valid First Aid/CPR, WHIMIS and Food Safety Handler’s Certificate is an asset;
• Strong computer skills with knowledge of Computer Software Programs;
• Personal experience as parent or caregiver of infants and/or young children;
• Excellent verbal, written communication and public relations skills;
• Valid Driver’s License is considered an asset;
• Must have ability to speak and understand Cree and have knowledge of Cree Culture;
• Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check and a Driver’s Abstract.
