Lac La Ronge Indian Band is now accepting applications for the following full-time term position, ending June 30, 2023 based out of the La Ronge Band Office:
CREE CURRICULUM DEVELOPER
The curriculum/ Resource Developer will support the vison, mission, values and strategic direction of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band Cree Resource Unit, Education Department and contribute to a positive, supportive and student-focused team environment.
Duties (includes but not limited to):
• Development of Cree educational resources, across a wide range of media;
• Assist Cree Language and Culture Coordinator in working with Cree teaching staff to provide advice and assistance related to lesson, unit, and year plans;
• Develop relevant Cree resources;
• Work with teachers to ensure that Cree language & culture lessons are interesting, effective, and current;
• Assist Cree Language & Culture Coordinator with Cree Teacher Inservice’s and teacher orientation;
• Work with the Cree Language & Culture Coordinator to prepare and review project schedules and project scope to meet deadlines;
• Provide support at language festivals, culture camps, and on-land activities;
• Report work plans and activities to coordinator;
• Attend professional development opportunities when necessary;
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
• Bachelor of Education Degree and a Saskatchewan Professional A teaching certificate;
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in curriculum and resources development;
• Experience working with Cree teachers;
• Experience in content development of materials for teachers working in Cree programs;
• Experience in developing and editing teaching resources using Microsoft Word; published; Adobe Photoshop; Adobe Acrobat; Power Point; and CorelDraw
• Demonstrates excellence in both written and spoken Cree language (SRO & syllabics);
• Proficient understanding of Cree values and culture and able to apply this in the development of resources;
• Knowledge of the school curriculum and current and emerging developments in the education sector is required;
• Must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s license
• Must provide a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract, Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Screening;
• Teaching experience in Cree is required;
• Ability to meet deadlines;
