The Lac La Ronge Indian Band’s Education Department is accepting applications for the 2022-2023 academic year, to fill the following Permanent Full-Time position based out of Senator Myles Venne School in La Ronge, SK:
Community & School Recreation Coordinator
The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:
- Develop, organize, lead, evaluate and promote interest in community-based recreational activities such as; arts, crafts, sports, games, camping, cultural programs and hobbies for all age groups after school, evenings & weekends;
- Work with students, their families, and community members;
- Report to and work with steering committee(s);
- Recruit, coordinate, and recognize volunteers;
- Organize and implement monthly gym events schedule;
- Be present on location during events;
- Establish, partner and maintain partnerships with other community recreation organizations and programs;
- Ensure sports and recreation facilities are safe for public use;
- Make requests for new equipment, supplies, and/or services as needed;
- Maintain positive public relations, on behalf of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band;
- Enforce rules and regulations of recreation facilities, in order to maintain discipline and ensure safety.
The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- 2 year Diploma in Recreation and Community Development, Recreation and Sports Management, Sports Administration or similar;
- 1-2 years experience in the Sports and Recreation field is preferred;
- Coaching certificate is an asset;
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required;
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision;
- Program planning experience;
- Strong organizational & time management skills;
- Strong communication, interpersonal and public relations skills;
- Good budgeting and financial management skills;
- Must have strong reading, writing, and communication skills;
- Ability to manage time efficiently and effectively;
- Valid First Aid/CPR Certificate;
- Must have a Valid Class 5 Driver’s License;
- Must have a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check, and COVID-19 Vaccination Passport;
