Lac La Ronge Indian Band Health Services Department is now seeking 2 (One) Year, Definite Term Contact, Full-Time, Licensed Practical Nurses to assist the Special Care Program. The ideal candidate will aim to address gaps exposed by COVID-19 Pandemic and to help strengthen the supportive care system in the Special Care Program. This position will be based in La Ronge and will provide services to the Special Care Program. This position will report to the Special Care Coordinator.

Duties:

  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment as well as a member of a team;
  • Work with NITHA and Saskatchewan Ministry of Health;
  • Address needs and gaps related to Infection and Prevention Control, Standards of Care, Quality Improvement and Community Development;
  • Organize training regarding infection and prevention control during an outbreak;
  • Ability to collect and analyze information;
  • PPE inventory for the Special Care Program;
  • Develop and establish adequate signage and work station for the pandemic responses in the Special Care Program;
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or designate;

Qualifications:

  • Registered with the Saskatchewan Association of Licensed Practical Nurses (SALPN);
  • Utilize best practice to meet the needs of the Special Care Program;
  • Knowledge of legislative or best practice long term care standards of care that may exist within provincial or territorial jurisdictions;
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of quality improvement in community settings and development;
  • Knowledge of identification of infectious disease processes, surveillance and epidemiological investigation, prevention and controlling the transmission of infectious agents;
  • Must be able to work independently, be self-directed and demonstrate organizational skills;
  • Experience working with First Nations communities is an asset;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Excellent problem solving & organizational abilities;
  • Ability to speak/understand Cree is a definite asset;
  • Must possess a Valid Driver’s License.
  • A Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Check and a Driver’s Abstract required upon hire.
